ATTENTION SHERLOCK FANDOM!
Hello! My name is Carolina and I’m a Literature major currently working on an oral presentation about modern adaptations of earlier literary works. One of the examples we chose is the show Sherlock, and since there is such a big fanbase for this show in Tumblr I thought it would be a good idea to conduct an online survey to further our research.
The survey is completely anonymous and made up mostly of multiple choice questions, all very easy to answer. We need to obtain at least 50 replies to draw any sort of conclusion, so please answer if you can. The only requirement is having watched the show; if you think you can’t answer one of the questions, you can simply skip it. However, please try to answer them all honestly. It will take you only a few minutes and my research group and I really appreciate your help.
HERE IS THE SURVEY.
Please reblog & share; the more replies we get, the more accurate we can hope our results to be!

Help out a fellow Sherlockian, ya’ll.

Golden Lasso Cosplay: Getting in shape.

thegoldenlasso:

A few weeks ago, I was called fat on my facebook page. While I’m definitely not an unhealthy weight or what most people would call “fat”, I have let myself go a bit. At first I laughed off the comment and banned the jerk, but then I started looking at the current pictures of me in cosplay, and…

First off you are still beautiful. I love your cosplaying pictures since they often make me yearn to sew or get costumes.

Second off, lot of luck on  your goal- one of the programs I used was: http://caloriecount.about.com/ to learn about my calorie intakes and what food had what exactly. It helped my husband, and I get too healthy lifestyles without huge rush diets that never seem to work out in the end.

Much luck you.

Q:No, it does not. Algebra is the introduction of analytical and reasonable thinking, however. Such as: "This plus this has to lead to this; however, there is this that I have to account for and ensure happens/does not happen." Arithmetic is simplified, and everyone uses it daily; Algebra consists of breaking down the more... complex thought processes due to external variables. Technically, we don't use ALGEBRA daily, we use ALGERBRAIC thinking daily. Hope this helps. I'm bad with words.

That is an awesome answer, thank you. So far probably my favorite.

Mauvekat: Math Question

shadow-jackal:

mauvekat:

An odd debate has come up with some of my friends, and I am looking to see if others who have a better understanding of math can help me out since it seems like this will never end. It will seem stupid I know but isn’t that how it goes?

One friend made a comment about not using Algebra daily like…

Algebra is a more complex form of arithmetic I would say that both are correct in one form or another. Take a check at a restaurant. You have a cost a tip and a total. Sometimes you know what the cost is and what you want to leave for a tip and that would be a basic arithmetic calculation. Other times you have a cost and what you want the total to be, so it would be an algebraic equation to solve for X(tip). So the long of it is that both are correct.

Also, anyone who says they don’t use math they learned in school every day is a moron.

Oh yeah we all agree that we use Math daily but it the question of do we all use Algebra daily. I use basic math liking adding and subtracting during the day but solving for X usually not in daily life. Hence the debate that formed because we all use math regularly but the concepts of what Algebra is I think has people disagreeing. It got pretty ugly with one side calling the other liars. Sigh, I love my friends but dear god. So I thought to ask random people not involved what they would think.

Thanks for an answer!

One friend made a comment about not using Algebra daily like math teachers used to say we did. Another friend of disagrees and her logic is balancing a check book, and such is Algebra because something like 2+2=X, solves for X is Algebra. To me this is just basic arithmetic not Algebra. I know arithmetic is the bases of algebra, but does that mean basic daily arithmetic is algebra?

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/fate-dicetm-dice-for-your-fate-and-fudge-games

KickStarter for more Fate dice. I know, not Shadowrun system but I am about to run a Dresden game for a bit and wanted to share more dice with my Chummers. They have some great looking dice for a KickStart Project if anyone wants to help out. I am still trying to figure out how much to help out since I like several of the dice.
